This robotics research is done at the College of Business Management & Information Technology at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa under the direction of Instructor Brian Burkhardt


ROBOTICS  is an industrial automation tool for Flexible Manufacturing Systems
The word "robot" comes from the Czech word "robota", meaning "forced labor"
The word robotics was first used in Isaac Asimov's science fiction story Liar! (1941).

Robotics are primarily integrated with machines in a work cell (see below) and selected to first reduce labor costs and second perform work that have been called "4 D jobs" (dull, dirty, dangerous, and difficult)
